The HDR punch disappears however and the image seems 'flatter'. Shadow detail and black levels improve considerably. I tried messing with the optimizer on the UB820 and that only succeeded in elevating overall black levels as well.įrame adapt HDR, frame by frame setting, auto adjust (low, med, high seems to make no difference) UB820 projector option selected for output and BT2020įilm mode, gamma 2.4, manual iris -8 I get back all the missing contrast. Still overly dark just with elevated black levels. Low lamp vs high lamp changes picture roughly 10%, and it's only the highlighted areas. Dark scenes on my 990 that provided plenty of shadow detail and depth are now just a black 'blob'. My biggest complaint is the overall dark nature of the picture.
Dedicated theater with complete light control. I was running an A lens with the 990 but am now zooming for the time being.
Has basic Munson 'calibration' right now.Ĭurrent setup: JVC NX7 and Panny UB820. I have gone through numerous films and tried every setting on the planet (waiting to get a couple hundred hours before calibrating) and I just can't get HDR to look anywhere near watchable. I upgraded from my X990 a few months ago and was really excited about the prospect of p&p (well as much can be hoped for anyways) HDR capabilities.
